Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the “Union of Afro-Asia Universities,” the Afro-Asia University in Istanbul, and the University of Science and Technology in Somalia.
The Union of Afro-Asia Universities, the Afro-Asia University in Istanbul, and the University of Science and Technology in Mogadishu have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop and enhance the partnership between the two universities and the Union in scientific, research, and training fields.
The agreement was signed by:
- Professor Ashraf El-Derfili, Executive Director of the Union of Afro-Asia Universities,
- Professor Abdel Karim Al-Wazzan, President of the Afro-Asia University,
- Professor Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Science and Technology.
The Memorandum includes cooperation in applied studies and research related to the development of educational curricula in Africa and Asia, conducting studies and research on contemporary educational realities, and examining educational, financial, and administrative challenges to contribute to environmental preservation.
It also encompasses the publication of books and scientific papers that support knowledge, uphold human values, and promote coexistence, security, and social peace. Additionally, the Memorandum encourages the organization of conferences, seminars, and the exchange of scientific, developmental, economic, social, and cultural expertise.
The agreement emphasizes creating quality standards aligned with global standards to improve the quality and efficiency of higher education in Africa and Asia through cooperation in establishing the Afro-Asia Classification Center.
The Union of Afro-Asia Universities is a scientific entity with an independent legal personality, established in 2016 through collaboration between universities in Africa and Asia. It focuses on education, science, culture, training, and enhancing the performance of universities in Africa and Asia scientifically, research-wise, and academically. The University of Science and Technology was established with approvals from the Somali Ministry of Higher Education and grants degrees at various levels, based in the Republic of Somalia. The Afro-Asia University’s credentials have been recognized by the Republic of Turkey.
