The death of the esteemed educator and scientist, Professor Dr. Mohamed Amara
The Union of Afro-Asian Universities extends its sincere condolences to the Arab Republic of Egypt, its government and people, the Arab and Islamic world, and all sincere scholars and students of knowledge on the passing of a prominent figure in Islamic thought who was known for his knowledge, learning, giving, credibility, moderation, patience, perseverance, and defense of the Holy Quran, the Noble Prophetic Sunnah, the sciences of Sharia, and Islamic history, with a thought characterized by neutrality, objectivity, moderation, and foresight, with a keen mind, penetrating vision, depth of analysis, and breadth of explanation and clarification. He is the virtuous professor, educator, and scholar, Professor Dr. Muhammad Amara, the Islamic thinker and member of the Senior Scholars Authority at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, at the age of 89, full of giving, generosity, and good planting in the souls of students of knowledge intellectually, behaviorally, morally, and cognitively, leaving behind a scientific wealth embodied in 75 books. And thus knowledge is taken away. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, his family, and all his companions, was truthful in what was reported about him when he said: “God does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the hearts of men, but He snatches it by seizing the scholars until there is no scholar left, people will take ignorant leaders, and they will be asked, so they will issue fatwas without knowledge, so they will go astray and lead others astray.
The funeral will be held today, Saturday, after the noon prayer from Al-Hamd Mosque in the Fifth Settlement next to the court complex, after which he will be buried in his hometown in the village of Sarwa, Qaleen Center, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
We only say what pleases our Lord: We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return, and glory be to the Ever-Living who does not die. O Allah, forgive the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women, the living and the dead among them. O Allah, reward us for our affliction and replace it with something better. We ask Allah Almighty to cover the deceased with His vast mercy and to place him in His spacious gardens and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace.
Do not say, O mourner, that the free have died… He who taught people life has not died
