The head of the Kuwaiti Journalists Syndicate calls for addressing the shortcomings in the use of the media
Dr. Zohair Ibrahim Al-Abad, President of the Kuwaiti Journalists Association and Editor-in-Chief of the Kuwaiti Academic Journal, stated today, Wednesday, that the conference specialized in “New Media and Its Role in Enhancing Community Security and Economic Development” is extremely important. This is because new media through platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok has become dominant in the field of journalism and media communications, and is linked to traditional media such as radio, television, and print newspapers.
The Union of Afro-Asia Universities is organizing the conference “New Media and Its Role in Enhancing Community Security and Economic Development” in Rabat, Morocco, next August, with wide participation from academics, researchers, and media professionals from several Arab and Islamic countries.
Al-Abad, a specialist in media management and digital communications technology, added, “We look forward to outcomes and recommendations to address deficiencies that negatively affect the use of media in economic development and legal promotion of products and goods in the Arab world, and to protect consumers from all forms of commercial fraud sold through unlicensed accounts.”
He pointed out that the Arab world, at the educational level, still suffers from the lack of development in traditional curricula and the need to keep pace with scientific disciplines in digital communications, broadcast engineering, and journalism, which are now mirroring the media of advanced countries in communications and media, in order to create a generation of youth specialized in modern sciences.
He noted that the Kuwaiti Journalists Association, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Youth, is currently implementing a special program for youth to teach and train them in comprehensive print journalism through 30% theoretical education and academic training on various devices in a theoretical and educational manner.
The Kuwaiti Journalists Association President emphasized the importance of young media professionals participating in the international conference on new media, following its outcomes, and the role of such conferences in honing media personalities, both academically and professionally. He encouraged them to keep up with new media technologies, develop their skills, and diversify them to achieve their personal goals and the goals of the society they live in.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Ashraf Abdel-Rafi Al-Darfeeli is the General Supervisor of the conference, Prof. Abdul-Karim Al-Wazzan is the Secretary-General of the conference, Prof. Abdul-Razzaq Al-Dulaimi is the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aziz is the conference organizer.
