A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Union of Afro-Asia Universities, the International Union of Muslim Scholars, and the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Science in Turkey. The memorandum was signed by Professor Ashraf Al-Darifili, Executive Director of the Union of Afro-Asia Universities; Dr. Ali Qara Daghi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars; and Mr. Said Yajouh, President of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Science.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives, Professor Radwan Habersi, former Vice President of Somalia; Professor Ibrahim Al-Ghandour, former Sudanese Foreign Minister and President of Al-Razi University of Medical Sciences; Professor Abdul-Majid Al-Makhlafi, former Yemeni Minister of Education; Professor Abdul-Majid Al-Najjar, a notable academic from Tunisia and the University of Zitouna; Professor Mohamed Khalil Cikcik, Professor at Ankara University; and a group of ministers, university presidents, and scholars.
